Game 7: TSU vs. Murray State ( 10/17/09, 6:00PM, Nashville, TN)
Tennessee State is coming off its biggest win of the season, beating EKU on the road 20-17. Murray State is coming off a homecoming game blowout, losing to Jacksonville St. 7-41. TSU is on top of the OVC with a 2-0 conference record. Murray State is in 7th place with an 0-2 conference record. Murray States other conference loss came at the hands of EKU in Murray. EKU beat Murray 23-13. Murray States lone win came in its season opener against D2 Kentucky Wesleyan College. Murray beat KWC 66-10. Since that win Murray has gone on a four game losing streak. In addition to their two conference losses, they also lost to NC State 7-65 and Missouri State 10-35. Last year Murray handed TSU a season ending loss that hit hard for TSU and its fans. So, TSU will be looking to avenge that loss and keep its winning streak and conference lead intact. But, TSU can't be caught celebrating its win over EKU. They must put that game behind them and take care of business against Murray State. Despite the scores and records, MSU is not a push over. They will come into Nashville looking to upset the Big Blue Tigers. Unlike the friendly but competitive rivarly between TSU and EKU, there's always been a high level of tension between TSU and Murray State.While it's been 10 years, Murray still hasn't gotten over losing the OVC Championship title to TSU ... twice ... and in consecutive years. That fanned the flames between these two schools and Murray hasn't forgotten the party TSU threw in their endzone after the 1998 title win. Not to mention seeing the spirit of Big John riding their horse around their track....
