We didn't look to bad last night(granted only Trevecca). I do think we have a better team than what we did last year. We are small in the block and that
will be an issue. Our defense is a whole lot better. We have more perimeter scoring.
Sain and Nobles can shoot the lights out. Cowan played decent inside. We didn't establish post that much. It looks like they will go to Cox and Sain for post. We got a hard out of conference. Not sure why we did this too ourselves this year. Anyone else? What is your reaction? |

DISCIPLINE....................... And we are wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy more talented than we were last year. Rob Covington could contend for freshmen of the year. i like our non conference schedule being hard. should make us better. |

I didn't see the first 5 minutes, so I'm not sure who started where, but I agree with your assessment. We didn't establish post that well in the
second half. Trevecca made adjustments to the throw-in down low and TSU never went to back to it. We have to make re-adjustments when they make theirs.
I also think we may be better overall, especially on defense. We still need to work on low post and fast break defensive schemes. They sliced through our fullcourt press like butter. Having a big guard (Nobles) makes us alot better. He and Sain looked real good when on the floor together. Here's my KEY players breakdown: Point Guards Crutcher: Mr. Durable. low turnovers. will hit the occasional three. Buie: Looks good as a freshman. Made alot of freshman mistakes, but looks promising and will steal minutes. Shooting Guards Noble: Looks good as a freshman. Hopefully he continues to be as good as he was last night. Will play big minutes. Fredrick: Another big guard at 6'5". Noble's backup. Peguero: 6'5" junior college transfer. I don't think I saw him last night. Forwards Cox: Great hustler as always. Looks like coach wants to play him some at the 3, however Sain needs to be on the floor. With Cox's rebounding and blocking ability, I'm sure he will start at the 4. Went down hard and hurt what looked like his back. Hope he's okay. Sain: As good as I knew he would be. Started off slow, but found his rhythm. Looked to pass or drive than take a quick three. Maybe able to do damage as a point-foward. Nash: Junior college transfer. Don't think I saw him. Covington: Looked better than I thought. Wants to play inside, but at 190 pounds, he's going to take a beating in the OVC. Get stronger. Cowan: Nice bulky size. Wasn't impressive, but didn't do bad. Nice size for a freshman. Funderburke: Looked better and more agile than last year. Being a senior with a lot more experience, he may start the season as the starting center. However, the center or 5 spot is up for grabs between Funderburke, Cowan, and Covington. To me, Covington looks better right now. Starting 5 Crutcher Nobles Sain Cox Funderburke (For the simple fact he's a senior and Covington and Cox are true freshmen with room to learn. At least at the beginning of the season) |
