TSU Madness, I agree with the statement in the stands. I don't understand why the assistant band director is reving up the band a lot more between downs. And, we need a REAL FIGHT SONG that is strictly ours. The play I'm So Glad. We also need to work on our percussion section. Not the drummers themselves, we need a full and complete percussion section like we used to have back in the 80's. Like BCU and so many other bands have today. And we play Party, blast that song out of the stadium. The game is over, no official is going to call a penalty on you for playing when your team has the ball, you're leading and the clock is running out. BLAST IT OUT so that fans can really PARTY and enjoy the spirit of the VICTORY.

As for the halftime performances, I'd say it was a draw. I think both bands could have done more formations. Our drum majors need to tigthen up their routine.

I'm glad we've grown. I hope the band continues to grow.

JS, let me just asy there were a a few things interesting about BCU...

1. They did introduce their queen and court right before the Crats performed. Now, it appears that they did not inform the Crats that they would be doing this because the band was in position to begin their performance and had to move to the side. So, if they didn't tell the Crats about that, then i think that was being disrespectful because it looked as though we were the ones that were not in tune with the program. Besides, I've never seen a school introduce their court during a game other than homecoming. To me it would have been more appropriate to do it during pregame or during BCU's performance. Quite honestly, BCU should have been penalized because their band was technically still on the field when the halftime clock expired. I credit our team for doing their pre-second half warm up beyond the end zone off the field completely. BCU's team was warming up on the field.

2. While the Crats were performing, BCU's band was basically in the parking lot behind the home bleachers. They entered the stadium in unisom lead by their drum majors from the home side, walked along the end of the field and stretched along the visitor sideline. They stood instead of kneeling. So, I felt that might have been a bit disrespectful as well.

3. There were a couple of times that BCU decided to play while TSU was playing in the stands. I don't recall TSU every starting up a new song while BCU was playing. BCU also played a couple of times while we were on offense and didn't tone down as the team approached the line. Yet, TSU was very if not overly cognizant of not playing at full blast once either team broke huddle.

Now, I like Bethune-Cookmans band. But, they just might be getting a bit too arrogant. I was turned off by the way they came into the stadium when the Crats were performing and I don't think too many of the TSU fans appreciated it either. Our response to their performance was luke warm at best. I don't know if it was for that reason or if it was because their show really didn't excite anyone. Don't get me wrong, it was a nice show. Not a great show. Just like I think our show was nice, but not great.

On a side note I have to say this... the Sophisticated Ladies did a really nice and very tasteful performance that had elements from the Rockettes. People may think that is a little corny, but it actually shows their level of talent as they executed the moves very well. Very classy. BCU's dancers move very well, but I have an issue with each and every girld wearing a wig or weave that is the texture of Cher's hair and equally as long. All you could see was air being flung around and they continued that in the stands. It was like the hair was more important than anything. If they were doing a theme routine where the hair enhanced the performance then that would be fine... like if they were doing a 70's theme and they all had afro wigs. But this was not a theme performance. The weave thing can go too far. That's just my opinion.
